Nomex laminates come with high mechanical and electrical strength. Some of the most common laminate insulation are NMN and NKN Custom laminate solutions which are based on Nomex® paper. They can be designed to meet performance requirements for a variety of specific applications.
Type NMN is a Nomex® paper and polyester film laminate. Type NMN laminates are made using unique Nomex® Papers, often used in UL systems up to 180°C. These laminates can be used in the production as well as the repair of different sizes of generators, motors for varying temperature classes. Some of the most important applications for these laminates include wedges, slot liners, insulation in Class H generators, motors, along with specialty class motors.
Type NKN on the other hand, is manufactured by laminating polyimide film with Nomex Paper. NKN laminates are used in generators and motors used for operation in temperature conditions higher than that of Class H requirements. There are a variety of UL-recognized insulation systems that use these laminates for temperature conditions up to 220°C.
